Struggle for what you love
“It’s really easy to fight against what you hate, it’s really hard to struggle for what you love!”
These words by Martin Prechtel hit hard. So much of our lives are spent in rage against the machine. There are big fights against the patriarchy, the capitalism, the heavy handed regimes, the corporate juggernauts, the exploitation of earth, just to name a few. And there are very personal, often silent, fights against oppressive family structures, domestic violence, psychological abuse, addictions, depression, and injuries and diseases of all kinds.
It's hard. None of those fights are made less by the second part of that sentence.
I truly believe that the struggle for what you love, gives every step, every action, every cry for help a far deeper, primordial energy. It's hard to box that energy into a small box of intrinsic motivation or personal agency. It is the love of life, though unacknowledged, but living still within you. It is the part of you that knows life could be different, and longs for moments in which it is seen, felt, cherished, and shared.
So here's my invitation to you: honor this call. Fight as hard as you can, with love. Get all the support you can to nurture this love. Learn the skills you need to grow it into something that can be shared.
This is what I struggle for, and it is my honor to facilitate such processes for my clients. I love it.
