Poseidon and Power

Do you hear the call of Poseidon?

Some time ago, a friend did. He stood on the wild shores of Portugal and felt the power.

Power. Poseidon’s power. Do you want to feel it too?

Hell yes. Doesn’t everybody these days?

But do you also know that Poseidon is nothing without Amphitrite? Yes, she is the stabilizing force. Do you remember who was there before Poseidon? Do you know Nereus?

I see Poseidon as one aspect of water itself. Water that gives life, just as much as it takes.

How long can you live without water? Not just drinking water. How long would you survive if the water running in your veins goes all chaotic and stormy?

Gentleness gives meaning to the power. Gentle, rhythmic flow is the life-sustaining aspect of water, of Poseidon.

And how does water shift shapes? Calm seas, Hard ice, hot springs, rivers, and rain.

Yes, the rain.

If all you see is the stormy wild un-tamed aspect of Poseidon, you’re missing the picture.

Poseidon does not exist without the air that creates the ripples on the surface. He moves through ocean currents. Currents that won’t exist if not for the warm core of earth. Yes, the water, powerful water is moved by the fire at its core. The same fire that moves and shifts the tectonic plates.

Poseidon is not just the power of water. He lives and dies by his inseparable union with the air, fire, and earth.

And what is Poseidon without the moon? You see my friend, power is relational. Water is relational. Life is relational.

Complete your story. Go down to the source. Go up to the source. Go left and right and end this madness.

See the ancient intentionality of water. Remember the watery womb that sustained you? Was it Poseidon too?

Water lives, and water gives, and water takes. Bow to it. Pray to it. Sacrifice to it. And then drink it up.

Let it hold the space in which you can flow.
